Here I am again in front of the computer after midnight and I guess my bio clock has adjusted because it doesn’t even feel late to me anymore.
We’ve been cranking hard at Filtrbox every day and night for the last two weeks getting ourselves ready (reasonably) for VCIR and the launch of the new site (which is about an hour away!).
Big week for Filtrbox - our 4th hire, new site going up, VCIR pitch, and one more announcement I don’t want to spoil here…
We are having fun too - there is something about working your ass off and seeing the results each day. Reminds me of the JustOn days a bit…
I’ll skip the back-story, I know you don’t care all that much.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on this beautiful frame recently, and had enough parts lying around to get most of a build kit put together. I had to pick a new cockpit, seatpost, and crankset (and the small parts) but that was about it.
Its a bit of a frankenbike currently as the build is a combo of Shimano Dura-Ace and Campy. I’d love to get it fully loaded with Record at some point…it being an Italian and all.
2008 Wilier Izoard Custom Build
Wheels: DT RR1.1, DT Aerolite spokes. FH: DT240s Radial, RH: PowerTap SL
Drivetrain: Campy Chorus CT Ultra-Torque cranks, SRAM PC-99 chain, Dura-Ace F&R derailleurs, Dura-Ace 10sp shifters
Cockpit: Deda Newton OS bar, euro curve, Deda Zero100 SC stem
Despite the Shimano/SRAM/Campy drivetrain it shifts great. The bike is much stiffer than the Look 555 I was riding. Fit still needs a few tweaks and I’ll have to try another bar as these Deda Newtons are measured end-to-end not center-to-center so this one ended up too narrow. If you are in the market for a brand new OS Deda Newton ‘42…drop me a line. ari (at) bluroom.com
If it ever stops snowing here I’ll post a better ride report once I get it out in the mountains for a few hours.
